HubSpot tracking code checker

Check if the HubSpot tracking code is installed on your site, flag duplicate or render-blocking loads, then confirm page views in HubSpot.

Scans the page's HTML in seconds. It also reports every other tracking script it finds.

about HubSpot

Why it breaks quietly.

HubSpot's tracking code loads from js.hs-scripts.com using your Hub ID. It records page views against contacts, powers traffic analytics and attribution, and connects form submissions to browsing history.

If it is missing or broken, contacts still get created from forms, so nothing looks obviously wrong. What disappears is the page history, source attribution and analytics that sales and marketing rely on.

what the free scan checks

✓

Whether HubSpot is in the page

The scan fetches the page's HTML and matches the vendor's script URL and install snippet.

✓

Whether it blocks rendering

A script tag without async or defer delays the page from painting. Marketing scripts never need to.

✓

Whether it's installed more than once

Duplicate installs usually send every event twice and inflate conversions.

✓

How exposed the page is to blockers

A server-side readiness grade: whether tags load from domains blocklists target, and whether conversions have a server-side path.

It reads the HTML, so tags injected later (inside GTM, for example) don't show up, and it can't see events fire. That's what verification is for.

common failures

How HubSpot goes dark.

✗

The Hub ID belongs to another portal

A test portal or old account's Hub ID is still on the site, so page views go there instead.

✗

HubSpot's cookie banner holds back tracking

With HubSpot's consent banner enabled, tracking waits for consent. Visitors who never interact are not tracked.

✗

Single-page apps record one page view

Client-side route changes need _hsq setPath and trackPageView calls. Without them, HubSpot sees only the first page.

✗

Your own traffic is not excluded

Internal visits inflate analytics unless your IP ranges or team are excluded in tracking settings.

by hand

Check it yourself, step by step.

  1. 1

In HubSpot, go to Settings, then Tracking & Analytics, then Tracking code, and confirm the Hub ID matches the script on your site.

  2. 2

Visit the site in a private window, submit a test form, then check that contact's activity for page views.

  3. 3

In Chrome DevTools, check for the __hstc cookie and a request to track.hubspot.com after page load.

  4. 4

Review the excluded IPs and domains in your tracking settings.

questions

Asked and answered.

Can this check tell me if HubSpot tracking is firing?+

No. It reads served HTML and can see whether the HubSpot tracking code is present, duplicated or render-blocking. It cannot see the code loaded through GTM or confirm page views reach HubSpot. TracerKit's Verification tier watches real fires and alerts when a tag goes silent.

Why do my HubSpot contacts have no page views?+

The tracking code may be missing on some pages, held back by the consent banner, or loading from a different Hub ID.

Do I need the tracking code if I use HubSpot forms?+

Yes, for page history and attribution. Forms create contacts on their own, but without the tracking code HubSpot cannot connect them to browsing.
