Plausible Analytics checker

Check if the Plausible script is installed on your site, spot duplicate or render-blocking loads, then confirm visits in your Plausible dashboard.

Scans the page's HTML in seconds. It also reports every other tracking script it finds.

about Plausible

Why it breaks quietly.

Plausible is a lightweight analytics script loaded from plausible.io. The classic snippet identifies your site through a data-domain attribute and counts page views and goals without cookies.

Because it is so small, it is easy to install slightly wrong. A data-domain that does not match the dashboard, a blocked script or a missing goal setup means visits or conversions are not counted, and the dashboard just looks low.

what the free scan checks

✓

Whether Plausible is in the page

The scan fetches the page's HTML and matches the vendor's script URL and install snippet.

✓

Whether it blocks rendering

A script tag without async or defer delays the page from painting. Marketing scripts never need to.

✓

Whether it's installed more than once

Duplicate installs usually send every event twice and inflate conversions.

✓

How exposed the page is to blockers

A server-side readiness grade: whether tags load from domains blocklists target, and whether conversions have a server-side path.

It reads the HTML, so tags injected later (inside GTM, for example) don't show up, and it can't see events fire. That's what verification is for.

common failures

How Plausible goes dark.

✗

data-domain does not match the dashboard

On the classic snippet, the data-domain value must match the site domain in Plausible exactly. A www mismatch or an old domain sends data to a site that does not exist.

✗

The script is blocked

plausible.io is on some block lists. Plausible documents proxying the script through your own domain to avoid this.

✗

Custom events have no matching goal

A plausible('Signup') call sends the event, but it only appears in reports once a goal with that exact name is set up in site settings.

✗

Hash-based routes count as one page

Sites that route with URL hashes need Plausible's hash-based routing option, or every view looks like the same page.

by hand

Check it yourself, step by step.

  1. 1

Open your Plausible dashboard and check the current visitors count while you load the site in another browser.

  2. 2

View the page source and confirm the script's data-domain, or the site-specific script URL, matches the site in your dashboard.

  3. 3

In Chrome DevTools, filter the Network tab for api/event and confirm a request returns successfully on page load.

  4. 4

For custom events, confirm a goal with the same name exists under Site settings, then Goals.

questions

Asked and answered.

Can this check tell me if Plausible events are firing?+

No. It scans the served HTML and can see whether the Plausible script is present, duplicated or render-blocking. It cannot see a script injected at runtime or confirm visits reach Plausible. TracerKit's Verification tier watches real fires and alerts when a tag goes silent.

Why is Plausible not counting my own visits?+

You may have excluded yourself, or a blocker is stopping the script. Plausible also ignores localhost by default.

Does Plausible need a cookie banner?+

Plausible does not use cookies, which is why many sites run it without one. Whether you need consent depends on your jurisdiction and setup.
